To visit above source click here3 questions to ask when contacting a metal stamping company.
You company has just landed a new customer. Whoo Hoo!! Hurray for your sales and marketing team!
All of the information is passed along to your engineers and they are busy working to get drawings made up and passing items along to the purchasing department.
Things are running smooth and management is overly pleased. All is well in your slice of the manufacturing world. Then it happens;that one piece of the puzzle that is needed, that one part that you need in order to have the perfect application.
You need to find a company who can make this widget, make a lot of them at a reasonable cost with good quality and make them when you need them.
You need a metal stamping company but how do you choose the right one?
You have to look at your options and unfortunately, there is no magic button to push to make it all happen. You need to do some digging.
Three things to consider when reaching out to a potential metal stamper.
1. Can they make this widget?
Ask them right up front what their capabilities are. Be honest about your needs and the complexity of your project. Provide whatever drawings or information they may need in order to fully answer your question.
2. Can they handle the volumes that you will need?
Be sure to provide what quantities you are looking for. Is this for prototype or production? What would the quarterly or yearly quantities be? Pass this information along from the start.
You’d be surprised at how many times only a drawing is sent asking “can you make this?”
3. Can we afford to work with this company?
Will the cost of this widget fit into the budget of your project? There are many factors that come in to play to determine what the end cost of your widget may be, so be clear on any special elements that may be needed. Special plating? Welding? Riveting? Shipping instructions? Anything that may add to the cost that you can think of.
If you are able to provide a potential metal stamper with as much detail as you can right from the start, the process can and will run smoother and the start a good relationship can be built. A relationship wherein you know that you can turn to this vendor again and again as time goes on, building a solid partnership.
Of course, there are other things you will want to look into when choosing who to partner with, but the three questions mentioned here are a good starting point.
